Wednesday, December 17, 2008 Blog Post 5: Reflection on Conscience

"But that's always the way; it don't make no difference whether you do right or wrong, a person's conscience ain't got no sense, and just goes for him anyway."

1. Write one paragraph in which you write the following quote from Huck in your own words and whether you agree with it and why/why not:

I disagree; I think the conscience is there to make you make good decisions. When someone does something wrong they say that they hear they conscience. People consciences get the best of them to undo what they did wrong and somehow make it right. The conscience knows right from wrong.

2. Write one paragraph in which you give at least three examples of how Huck's conscience influences his decisions and state whether you agree with his decisions and why/why not:

In Huck Finn had numerous conscience influences. Huck had conscience influences the most from Widow Douglas. Widow Douglas influence Huck to make the right decisions. Every time Huck thinks of some thing humble or helpful he thinks of Widow Douglas. For example, saving the men that was stranded on the sinking boat.

3. Write one paragraph in which you describe a time when your conscience got the best of you and it resulted in you making the correct moral decision, even though it was difficult for you:

I can’t really think of a time when my conscience got the best of me.
