Wednesday, December 17, 2008 Blog Post 5: Reflection on Conscience

"But that's always the way; it don't make no difference whether you do right or wrong, a person's conscience ain't got no sense, and just goes for him anyway."

1. Write one paragraph in which you write the following quote from Huck in your own words and whether you agree with it and why/why not:

I disagree; I think the conscience is there to make you make good decisions. When someone does something wrong they say that they hear they conscience. People consciences get the best of them to undo what they did wrong and somehow make it right. The conscience knows right from wrong.

2. Write one paragraph in which you give at least three examples of how Huck's conscience influences his decisions and state whether you agree with his decisions and why/why not:

In Huck Finn had numerous conscience influences. Huck had conscience influences the most from Widow Douglas. Widow Douglas influence Huck to make the right decisions. Every time Huck thinks of some thing humble or helpful he thinks of Widow Douglas. For example, saving the men that was stranded on the sinking boat.

3. Write one paragraph in which you describe a time when your conscience got the best of you and it resulted in you making the correct moral decision, even though it was difficult for you:

I can’t really think of a time when my conscience got the best of me.

Blog Post 4: Huck Finn: Setting Description

How long have you been going to this place?

What do you do in this place?

When do you go there?

What does it look like? Sound like? Smell like? Taste like (if there is food involved).

Who else goes there and what is your relationship with them?

How do you feel when you are there?

With what do you associate this place?

What does this place mean to you?

The place that I enjoy going over is my grandma house. I’ve been going over my house my whole life. I enjoy going over her house because I get to spend time with her and I get to see my family. When I go over her house she makes it feel like a second home. I usually go over her house over the weekend. My grandma house looks like an old castle, with a nice backyard. My grandma to me the best cook ever. She can cook any thing you want. My favorite is her chicken and ribs. Almost every time I go there I see my cousins or my aunties. My whole life is in her house; she been in the same house before I was born. I would hate to lose that house.
